The unique, spherical "Genkai Tile Notch".
The Genkai set has several distinquishing features including the multi-coloured 1-Bamboo bird.
Most impressive are the BLACK tile backs. The sides of the tiles feature unique spherical-shaped "side notches". (In the old days of bamboo-backed cow-bone or ivory tiles, the bamboo back was fitted onto a notched ridge on the back of the tile. Today some sets reproduce the "notch" on the side as a decorative feature in the tile design.)
This Japanese mahjong set is finished to a high standard and is housed in a padded vinyl carrying case. The trays are lined with red felt to house the tiles comfortably and quietly.
The set comes with a red Wind Marker, scoring sticks and chips and four dice.
The set is made to Japanese specifications, with NO ARABIC NUMERALS!
The tiles measure 1 inch X 3/4 inch X 5/8 inch.
