The "Sango" mahjong tiles include a stylized "notch" reminiscent of the dovetail joint that attached the bamboo back to the tile-body in vintage mahjong sets.
The Sango mahjong set is one small step up from the standard mahjong set. The tiles are actually quite similar in quality to those of the "Standard" Japanese style mahjong set. The key difference between the two sets is the quality of the plastic storage case.
The Sango set is made to Japanese specifications, with NO ARABIC NUMERALS!
The tiles measure 1 inch x 3/4 inch x 5/8 inch, 25mm x 18.5mm x 15mm. Each tile weighs 11 grammes.
The tiles are made of uria resin by Taiyo Chemicals Inc, Japan.
