Back

This is a fun mahjong set with a difference. Now you can enjoy the novelty of making sushi-based mahjong hands!

Instead of the traditional "Coins" "Bamboo" and "Character" suits, the three suits are based on Nigirizushi (rice with fish on top), Gunkanmaki (rice and fish wrapped in seaweed), and kai (shellfish). The Sushi dishes are presented pictorially on each tile, while the shellfish are presented as you find them advertised on Japanese menu placards.

The "Winds" are shown over four steaming bowls of soup while the "Dragons" are as follows:

  • "Oyaji" (the Old Man, the Boss) = White Dragon.
  • "Agari" (Green Tea) = Green Dragon
  • "Noren" (Shop Curtain) = Red Dragon
Red fives are also provided in the form of "Golden Sushi" tiles. A couple of Jokers are also included (they look a bit like Munch's "The Scream") and a couple of spare tiles have been included as well.

In short, this set is an excellent conversation piece and would be an ideal gift for sushi-loving mahjong players!!

The tiles measure approximately 1 inch X 11/16 inch X 3/4 inch.

The set includes:

  • 144 Sushi Mahjong Tiles
  • 1 Table Wind Tessera
  • 4 dice
  • Coloured Scoring Tallies and Counters
  • Score sheets
  • Full Set of Japanese MJ Rules in Japanese.
  • Crib Sheets to help you make hands with the Sushi Mahjong tiles
  • Smart carrying bag with the logo "Dai Sushi" on it.
